Make Pretty Stuff Down Under with Heidi Swapp | Part 2

I'm back with another layout share using leftover goodies from Heidi's workshop.  I realised I wasn't going to use the Memory File as intended, but I still think it's super-cute, so I have started to pull it apart and re-purpose it.  This layout also includes a tag we made at the workshop, but I have made some minor modifications and have used it to hide some extra journalling.

I am so happy to be able to find a use for the Memory File, and I look forward to finding ways to use the rest :-)

Make Pretty Stuff Down Under with Heidi Swapp

A couple of weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending the Perth leg of Heidi Swapp's Australian Tour.  It was an all-day event with three workshops.  Heidi taught two workshops and the lovely Kim Jeffress taught the other.  The classes featured Heidi's new product ranges "Mixed Company" and "Believe" as well as Color Shine, Colour Magic and Stencils.  It was a long hot day but I had a ball playing with products that were new to me and revisiting some techniques.

I have been itching to play with my leftover product (boy, we received a lot of product!) but I had to wait until some other projects were out of the way. Last night I finally had a short block of time, so I figured I could throw a layout together using some of the "Mixed Company" papers, Colour Magic diecuts and Colour Shine.  I have A LOT of different spray inks but I think I am in love with Colour Shine.  The colours are nice and vibrant and the shimmer is just beautiful when the light hits it.

I am looking forward to finishing my "Believe" mini album from Kim's class- I am pretty sure at this stage it will be used to document the adventures of our Elf on the Shelf this year.

The Perth scrapping community had a wonderful day with new friends and old friends, online friends and real-life friends, but most of all we were really grateful to Heidi and Kim for coming all this way after an already hectic schedule on the east coast.  We hope you'll be back someday :-)

Project Life Week 47

I'm back with another week of Project Life to share.  I know many are finding it hard to stay motivated with their memory keeping at this busy time of year, but I am still loving this process.

This week I used the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Mini Kit and although I am more used to using a full core kit, I never struggle to find what I want to complete my page whenever I use this kit.  I guess that's the biggest advantage of buying the PL kits digitally- you can modify the cards to make journalling strips, crop them to suit and of course you can use each card over and over.

Here is the LHS.....

Here is the RHS.....

And here is the whole week.....

I am so pleased (ok, pretty darn proud) that I have managed to keep up to date, with most weeks being completed Sunday night or Monday morning.  I really hope I can continue this routine into next year!  Please share your tips for keeping on track with PL in the comments- I always love to hear everyone's little tricks ;-)

Tomorrow's Memories | New Project Packs

I always love the packs that Sonya from Tomorrow's Memories gives me.  By now, she knows my style very well and the packs just keep getting better and better.  So, here's the deal with the Project Packs- if you like what I've created and you want to make something similar, you simply get the pack from the shop and everything you need is in there- easy peasy :-)

First up, here's the card pack.....

Then I had some gorgeous papers from Kaisercraft and Simple Stories which at first glance (especially since there were paper flower embellishments in there too)  looked quite feminine, but I was able to match some beach photos with them and make it all work for my boys.  (TIP:  Run a vintage action over your photos to soften the colours when working with papers like these.)

The next pack had "Boy Page" written all over it with terrific bright colours and cool graphics.....

I'm not sure why these photos are so bad- by the time I had uploaded them to my PC, and realised how bad they were, I had already delivered the projects to TM so couldn't re-do them. SORRY!   But they are good enough for you to see what you can do with the packs, and trust me when I say they are great fun to work with no matter what kind of scrapper you are :-)

Project Life Week 46

I'm posting a little bit later than usual because we had a huge weekend.  Sometimes cultivating memories gets in the way of the recording of them ;-)

On Saturday I went to Heidi Swapp's "Make Pretty Stuff Down Under" Workshop and had a great time getting messy, inky and creative with about 70 other Perth ladies.  I have some projects to finish and will share them here when I do.

This week I have used the Project Life Kraft Edition and added one little flair from Button It and a die-cut speech bubble.  You will notice one of my journalling cards has been blurred.  This card features a story that was important to include but not appropriate for me to share here.

I am starting to think about how I am going to approach PL in 2014.  I have been really happy with how this year's album has come together, so I don't expect to change much next year- maybe just enough change to keep me motivated going forward.  We'll see.

This year, experience Picture the Holidays with Tracey Clark. This 31-day experience is the perfect remedy for the holiday hustle. Seasonal photo prompts delivered to your inbox each morning will inspire your inner photographer and encourage you to take a few moments to yourself each day to get creatively centered - one photo at a time.

Each prompt encourages you to upload your photo from the day. Those photos will be automatically placed in your Picture the Holidays book via the Prompt Me tool. By the end of December, you will have a beautiful 64-page book that documents your holiday experience featuring your own photographs.

Here is the November colour palette to play with.....

Yummy, right?

I pulled out some Amy Tangerine products and played with my gelatos and came up with this page featuring my little Master 2 reading Motor Magazine.

Project Life Week 45

It's that time again- I can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying by!  I have started my Christmas shopping but there is still much to do with school finishing in about four weeks.

This week I used the Jade Edition of Project Life and I also added cut files from Ali Edwards and Chic Tags.  I could have easily added the .png images digitally while I was working in Photoshop, but I usually leave the "embellishing" (if you can call it that) until everything is in it's pocket and I can see where I need to add a little somethin'.  Hence, I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut the files and then just glued them into place.

Project Life Week 44

This week I succumbed to the bright happy colours of the Sunshine Edition of Project Life and bought the digital kit.  I have more than enough kits and when Sunshine was first released I showed tremendous self control, but the pull was still there and I caved earlier this week when it was on sale for the Project Life Birthday Celebrations.

So here is Week 44 using Sunshine :-)

LPS November Sketch Challenge

It's Sketch Challenge time again at Life.Paper.Scrapbook and our sponsor this month is Scrapbook Generation.

Scrapbook Generation is a Springfield, Missouri retail store started in 2004 by two sets of sisters: Debbie Sanders and Karin Rush, and Debbie's daughters Stacey Atchley and Allison Davis. In 2010, the family business grew to include Scrapbook Generation Publishing, which sells and distributes a line of 15 sketch books for scrapbooking and cardmaking. In addition, a wide variety of sketch products ranging from single sketch to books can be purchased as downloads at scrapbookgeneration.com. Each month, SG also produces six kit clubs and Allison Davis hosts Sketch Week on her blog. At the start of 2014, SG will launch an expanded online store.

The winner of this challenge can choose any sketch ebook from their store, including the new release ebooks.  Worth playing for?  For sure!  Here is the sketch, courtesy of Scrapbook Generation.....

Here's my take on the sketch using the "Say Cheese" Collection from Simple Stories.

The DT had a lot of fun with this sketch, so be sure to head over to the LPS Blog to see all their amazing pages as well as all the details for entering the challenge.
