Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #127

We have a new sketch to play with at the Feeling Sketchy Challenge Blog and our challenge sponsor is Bugaboo Digi Stamps.

Here is the sketch we are playing with.....

I used this Bugaboo image, coloured it with Copics and fussy-cut it out.  I changed out the squares in the sketch for triangles and flipped it so my focal point was on the left hand side of my landscape-oriented card.

My background was created by blending Distress inks and by die-cutting a triangle pattern from white cardstock with my Silhouette machine.  Rather than attempt to get some dimension by using foam tape, I cut the panel three times and adhered them to each other for the dimension I was after.

I used my Distress Inks again on the banner and tried to mimic the same blend as the background panel.

Some Clear Wink of Stella was added here and there, and sequins were the final finishing touch.

Project Life Weeks 30 & 31

I'm back with another two weeks of Project Life layouts, and for these I have used the Digital Project Life Cherry Edition which is free at digitalprojectlife.com.  If you're interested in starting out with digital products, it's a great collection to get.

Here is Week 30.....

And here is Week 31.....

I kept things very simple- all cards were created in Photoshop (as usual) and no physical product was added.....just "print-and-slip" ;-)

Targa West 2015 starts today, so for the next four days our household will be consumed with all things tarmac rally.  Our beloved "Betty White" is competing in her third Targa West and hubs and his co-driver are very keen to get out there and start racing.

Here is "Betty White" at last year's event....

Wish her luck for us!

Kraft Plus | August Challenge

I'm playing along again with the Kraft Plus Challenge Blog this month and the August Challenge really got my brain ticking over.

I have always loved the look of white on a kraft background so I decided to keep it simple and reach for my white gel pen, some vellum scraps, a piece of white card, some kraft (of course) and my Silhouette Cameo machine.

Now don't get too excited- all that doodling was done with my Cameo!  I selected some files from the Silhouette store, laid it all out in the software and then used my white gel pen and the sketch function.  Cool huh?

This "Rise and Shine" card is also a cut file from the Silhouette store....

I used white pigment ink to stamp the date.

There were a few spots that I had to touch up with my pen, but I love the sketchy look I was able to achieve.

Thanks for stopping by!

"Cute x 2" | Scrappy Canary June "Globe-Trotter" Kit

I'm back with another layout using the June "Globe-Trotter" Kit and I have used two small square photos on my 8.5" x 11" page.  I usually like to have my photos close to each other on my pages, but this time I decided to separate them and pop my title in between.  Instead of using my usual white cardstock background I decided to use yellow to match the patterned paper.

I die-cut my tag from patterned paper but you could easily do this with a paper trimmer.

A sprinkling of white Heidi Swapp Spray Ink really popped against the yellow background.

These die-cuts might be travel-themed but you can use them for so many other stories too.

Don't forget it's SALE time at the Scrappy Canary store.

Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #126

It's time for another Feeling Sketchy Sketch and this time we welcome Lacy Sunshine as our challenge sponsor.

Here's the sketch we're playing with.....

I must admit that at first glance this sketch scared me but once the idea for a large image with inlaid circle die-cutting came to me, I was good to go!

I used the Gamer Reggie image from Lacy Sunshine, sized him in Photoshop and then printed him on Copic-friendly paper, before getting to work with my Copic markers.

I used my Kaisercraft nesting circle dies to cut parts of my panel and then again to cut the same kraft cardstock as my card base to make the layers.  I used four layers of kraft under each circle cut from my main panel and once adhered to each other popped them back in the main panel like puzzle pieces- make sense?

I added some Zig Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to Reggie's eyes, and I used an older Hero Arts sentiment stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Denim Zing embossing powder.  I used a Spellbinders die and then the appropriate size Kaisercraft circle die to make the kraft arrow for the sentiment.

I'm really happy with how this card turned out so remember to never let a sketch frighten you- use it to try something new and different!

"Lunch For Two" | Scrappy Canary June "Globe-Trotter" Kit

I'm back with another layout using the June "Globe-Trotter" Kit and this time I tried two things that I don't do all that often- I used patterned paper for my background and to that I added texture paste mixed with gold paint through a star stencil.

I used two of the little kraft envelopes from the kit as layers.

I used the gold star transparency to continue my star theme.

I layered a transparent diecut over the "My View" one for a fun look.

Thanks for joining me today- don't forget there is a huge SALE on at the Scrappy Canary Store!
