Project Life Week 51

I'm back again with another week completed and this time I have used the Sunshine Digital Edition and nothing else added.  Week 51 features Christmas and since I have a December Daily album on the go, I didn't add any extra inserts for the many many Christmas photos to my Project Life spread.  I will put all the special shots in my December Daily album instead.

Phew- all caught up now and just have this current week to complete.......now to tackle getting my December Daily completed!

Some Exciting News!

I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Scrappy Canary Creative Team!

Scrappy Canary (formerly Polly Scrap! Kits) is Australia's premier crafting kit club, offering monthly Scrapbook, Pocket Life and Embellishment kits. Our kits offer a handpicked selection of the latest papers, embellishments and exclusive items all coordinated and shipped direct to your door. In addition to our kits our store also stocks coordinating embellishments and other supplies to help you create beautiful pages.

Founded in Tasmania in 2011 as a hobby business, in 2013 Ruth Bonser took over the reins and grew Polly Scrap! to be one of Australia's most popular kits clubs. Her vision was for kits that inspire our customers to create beautiful pages and documents stories by including exciting exclusives from well-known designers such as Amy Tangerine and Wilna Furstenberg, launching an embellishment kit and bringing in talented scrappers to join the Design Team to share inspiration.
With so much growth it was time for a new look and re-branding so together with DT member Manda Moore the Scrappy Canary was launched in July 2014 and strives to continue to deliver the best paper crafting products, creative inspiration and customer service you have come to know.

Some of you might recognise Manda Moore as the founder of Life.Paper.Scrapbook and I was lucky enough to work with her on that Design Team.  When I heard that Manda was looking for designers for Scrappy Canary I just had to apply.  I can't wait to receive my first kit and start creating- stay tuned!

Project Life Week 50

Yes, I'm back again already!  I have Week 50 to share today and I used a PHYSICAL core kit- Slate. If you follow this blog you will know I usually use digital kits and print each element, but I was given the Slate kit as a gift and I use it in rotation along with all my other digi ones.  I do have the First and Last Page cards in digital form however, and I have used a couple of them this week so I could add journalling in Photoshop and then print as I usually do.

I added some white die-cuts from my little bucket of random leftover cuts to a couple of the filler cards.

The biggest event of the week was a bushfire close to our home and even closer to the new home we are building- in fact, the blocks behind our block were burned but luckily no houses have been built there yet.  We had helitacs flying very low over our house and we stood out in the street with the neighbours taking video and photos.  Later in the day I took the boys to the nearby lake where they were filling up their water tanks and it was an awesome sight to see them come in , fill up and take off in succession.  Later that evening I snapped some photos from our driveway and you can see one of those in my layout.  Bushfires are a scary reality in Australia in the summertime and our fire brigades do an amazing job under often very difficult conditions- they are heroes to me and most other Australians.

Kaisercraft "Something Blue" Anniversary Layout (Video)

Today I have a process video to share and I am using "Something Blue" from Kaisercraft to create a monochromatic anniversary layout.  This is a wedding-themed collection and features soft muted colours, but I chose black and white papers and embellishments to go with my black and white photo.

Here is the finished layout.....

And here is the video- you can watch it here or over at YouTube.

Thanks for watching!

Project Life | Weeks 47 & 48

Oh boy it's been crazy-busy around here, but it's most likely been the same for you too, right?  Anyhoo, I had Weeks 47 and 48 completed about a week ago, I just hadn't had a chance to photograph them and do a blog post.

I have used the Polka Dot Party Mini Digital Kit for both pages and nothing else was added- super simple and please excuse the glare off the pocket pages!

Here's Week 47.....

And here is Week 48.....

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Tag Card | Video

I was searching among my videos on my YouTube channel and found this one that I hadn't published yet.  It's a process video for creating a card using a WPlus9 stamp and some bits and bobs from my stash.

Hello and welcome to Scrapbook Circle!Ever since I was young, it has been important to me to document the stories of my life. From the time I received my first camera when I was eight years old until now, taking pictures and organizing them to tell stories has been an important part of my life.In 2006 my dear friend, Crystal, and I decided to share our love of scrapbooking with others and we started Scrapbook Circle. It has been such a fabulous adventure to get to share our passion for preserving memories with others. After about a year and a half of running Scrapbook Circle, Crystal decided that she needed to focus more time on her family, so she turned her responsibilities over to me. It is such a blessing to be able to preserve my family’s memories and I’m sure you feel the same way about preserving your memories. I am truly thankful everyday for this wonderful opportunity to connect with others who find preserving their memories as important as I do.  I love this creative journey and I hope you will join me as we learn and grow together.

And now to the sketch....

I first decided to flip the sketch 90 degrees anti-clockwise. I then made a card base from kraft cardstock and gathered up some scraps of patterned paper from the Everyday Circus Collection by Fancy Pants Designs.

I coloured some embossing paste with Distress Ink and applied it using a star stencil on my background paper.

I then stamped and coloured a stamp and sentiment from Stampin' Up and layered that panel on some die-cut pieces of paper.

The brads were from my stash.

I just love the texture and interest that the embossing paste adds :-)
I hope you'll play along with us and be sure to pop over to Feeling Sketchy for more inspiration from the DT and for all the challenge details.

I'm a Scrapbooking Memories Magazine Master!

I can finally share the big secret I have been keeping for the last few months- I'm a 2015 Master!

This was my first time entering- I guess I never had the confidence before now.  I knew as soon as I saw the entry brief that I could give it a red hot go and when I sent off my projects I was hopeful that I might be awarded an Honourable Mention- anything over and above that was going to be an unexpected bonus.

I have been quietly working away on projects that will feature in upcoming issues and I hope to have the Masters issue in my hands very soon.

I am one of ten lovely and talented scrapbookers to have been awarded the title of Master for 2015 and as well as the title, we have won some amazing prizes.  Opening all the boxes of goodies while not being allowed to share the excitement was torture but now we can all shout it from the rooftops :-)

Let's get to the sketch.....

Yes, it's your choice- create whatever you like!

I grabbed some papers and embellishments from the Game On! Collection from Kaisercraft and since my background paper was quite dark and distracting, I swiped some gesso all over it before swiping some blue paint over the top.  This not only toned down the background without covering it completely, but the blue tied in nicely with my swimming theme.

I hope you'll play along with us and be sure to pop over to Feeling Sketchy for more inspiration from the DT and for all the challenge details.

Project Life Weeks 45 and 46

Oh boy, things are really starting to get away from me right now, but I guess that's typical for this time of year!  I did manage to get two weeks of PL finished over the last couple of days and they are both single page layouts.  Although things are crazy-busy right now, there are not many photos being taken.

I have used the Midnight Edition for both weeks and I am still head-over-heels in love with this kit. All I added to the kit elements was an image to mark Remembrance Day on 11 November- I simply did a Google Images search to find it.

Here is Week 45.....

And here is Week 46.....

I realised today that I have made no preparations whatsoever for my December Daily album!  It's ok though because I usually complete my album after Christmas.  However, I would feel better having an album cover and supplies gathered together, so that's on the to-do list for tomorrow!

Yep, that's right, we can do whatever we like!

I am on a shaker-card kick at the moment and decided to do a simple Christmas card using a stamp and patterned paper from Stampin' Up and dies from Spellbinders.  The sequins were from a cheapy shop and the gold thread from my sewing box.
