Scrappy Canary | "Hello" | January Kit Layout Share

Today's share is a page dedicated to my love of a good coffee and I took my cue from the coffee cup and used lots of blue/mint green elements from the kit.

I used some of the gold polka dot vellum as the foundation and built everything else on top of it.  I fussy-cut some of the floral paper for some small details.

Of course machine stitching and Heidi Swapp Colour Shine made an appearance and I used "Seafoam" Colour Shine to colour my "Hello" word. My "Love" wood veneer arrow was coloured with embossing powder.

I am having so much fun with this kit and I hope I've been able to inspire you to use yours :-)

Project Life Week 3

It's back-to-school for us this week and in between all the organising and excitement I have managed to get Week 3 done using the Seafoam Edition.  My husband arrived home late in the week and we celebrated his 40th Birthday so a lot of my photos document that milestone.  I didn't add any embellishments or filler cards this week- I had too few worthy photos for a two-page spread and a few too many for a single-page spread so I included a mix of adding journalling to my photos and photos to my journalling cards.

Here is Week 3.....

Back to school pics will be on Week 4's layout :-)

Scrappy Canary | "Love This" | January Kit Layout Share

I'm back with another layout made from the "Lots of Love" January Scrapbook Kit and the "Be Mine" January Embellishment Kit.

Unlike my first layout, this time I challenged myself to use some pink and gold on a page about my boys.

Since many of my layouts are journalled in my own voice, I haven't shied away from using pinks and florals if it feels right, and it did feel right for this one.

I took one of the phrases from the Dear Lizzy pack and coloured it with two shades of Heidi Swapp Colour Shine- Gold and Pink and created an ombre effect.  I also coloured my "Love" wood veneer arrow with gold pigment ink.

Some machine stitching, bakers twine, ribbon and black ink splats were the final finishing touches.

Scrappy Canary | "Here" | January Scrapbook Kit Layout Share

I am so excited to be sharing my first Scrappy Canary layout and I was even more excited to receive my "Lots of Love" January Scrapbook Kit and co-ordinating "Be Mine" January Embellishment Kit

I have boys, and at first glance, the pink in the kit scared me a little but then once I had a good ol' rummage through my box,  I knew I had the perfect elements to go with these photos of my littlest guy.  And of course the January Sketch made it even easier to make this page in under 15 minutes.....gotta love that ;-)

I love the Dear Lizzy words in the kit and for this page I coloured my word with silver and yellow Gelatos.

The Thickers were perfect for adding an "S" for Samuel to my banner.  And it's perfectly ok to add sequins to a "boy" page if you ask me!

Some machine stitching and Heidi Swapp Colour Shine were all I needed to add. Be sure to visit Scrappy Canary to grab a kit and for tonnes of inspiration.

Project Life Week 2

Despite being busy with school holiday activities, I have managed to get Week 2 done in a pretty timely fashion- let's hope it continues!

To match the opposite page (Week 1) I have used the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Mini Kit again and it went well with all of our swimming photos.

I didn't add anything extra this week......

My apologies for the photo- it is so very hot outside so I opened the front door, plonked my page down to catch the light, snapped the photo and very quickly closed the door again!

See you soon :-)

My Winning Scrapbooking Memories Magazine Masters Entries

Now that the next issue of Scrapbooking Memories is out, I can finally share my Masters Entries with you!

Task 1: Scrap a single layout using a 5x7 inch photo that must be engaging and have eye-contact.

Task 2: Scrap a layout using at least one non-conventional (non-papercraft) item as an element of your page.

Task 3: Scrap a layout where journalling is the focus of your page.

Task 4: Create the cover of an art journal that best reflects your scrapbooking style.

I still can't believe I received the call from Scrapbooking Memories back in September and I sure still can't believe I kept it a secret until all the winners were announced!  But when I look around my Scrap Room and see all the wonderful prizes I received, it sinks in all over again!  I've enjoyed getting to know all the other Masters- they are a truly talented and humble bunch.

Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #113

It's time for a new sketch and we welcome Karleigh Sue Digi's as our sponsor.

Hi! I'm Cheri Shull, designer of Karleigh Sue Digi's.
KS officially launched in July 2014. I have loved
drawing since I was a small child.
Now at age 30 I have come to realize my specific purpose in life is drawing.
I have tried my hand at all sorts of arts, crafts, sewing,
painting, cooking, baking and even up-cycling.
The time came to focus and center my career into one path instead
of multiple ones. I live in South Florida, USA (for now)
I was born in Ohio and long to return to the country life.
I am also a work-from-home
mommy of three.
I dream of sharing my artwork across the world and being able
to use it to make a difference in this world.

You can find Karleigh Sue Digi's here on Etsy.

Now here's the sketch.....

I used this image from Karleigh Sue, papers from Heartfelt Creations and some ribbon from my stash.

I coloured my image with coloured pencils blended with gamsol and added some light shading around the cupcake to add dimension.

I then added some shimmer with a Wink of Stella Glitter Marker.  I also added Glossy Accents to the flame and to the sprinkles on the cupcake.

I hope you'll play along with us and be sure to pop over to Feeling Sketchy for more inspiration from the DT and for all the challenge details.

Project Life 2015 Title Page and Week 1

Happy New Year and here's to another year of Project Life!  I have decided to stick with the approach I used in 2014 and that means using Digital Core Kits and minimal embellishments.  It also means that some weeks will be documented on a single page and others on two pages, depending on how much is happening.

For my title page I opted for a monochromatic theme using the Midnight Core Kit and a card from this set by Paislee Press.  I added one little flair and some Thickers and called it done.

For Week 1, I have used the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Mini Kit to create my single page layout.  No other embellies were added.

Thanks for popping in and I hope you will continue to follow my little space on the interwebs!

Project Life Week 52

And another year of Project Life finishes!  This week I downloaded the Cherry Edition which is part of the free Starter Pack available at digitalprojectlife.com.  If you are considering going digital in 2015 and don't know where to start, then I would suggest grabbing that pack.

I had a fairly photo-heavy week to deal with but simply selected the pics that best represented our week, so I could balance out the layout with some filler cards.

Here is the LHS.....

And the RHS.....

And the entire week.....

Thanks for joining me for PL2014 and I hope to see you again for PL2015!

Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #112

It's time for a new card sketch at Feeling Sketchy and we welcome back Scrapbook Circle as a Challenge Sponsor.

Hello and welcome to Scrapbook Circle!Ever since I was young, it has been important to me to document the stories of my life. From the time I received my first camera when I was eight years old until now, taking pictures and organizing them to tell stories has been an important part of my life.In 2006 my dear friend, Crystal, and I decided to share our love of scrapbooking with others and we started Scrapbook Circle. It has been such a fabulous adventure to get to share our passion for preserving memories with others. After about a year and a half of running Scrapbook Circle, Crystal decided that she needed to focus more time on her family, so she turned her responsibilities over to me. It is such a blessing to be able to preserve my family’s memories and I’m sure you feel the same way about preserving your memories. I am truly thankful everyday for this wonderful opportunity to connect with others who find preserving their memories as important as I do.  I love this creative journey and I hope you will join me as we learn and grow together.

And now here's the sketch.....

I took some papers from the "Everyday Circus" Collection by Fancy Pants Designs and created a shaker card using vellum as the window material rather than clear acetate.

My sentiment is from this set called "Sketchy Banners" by Simon Says Stamp and I heat embossed it with silver and cut it out using the "Sketchy Banners" die set.

And my sentiment continues onto the inside of the card, where I silver heat embossed it on the black card base.

I hope you'll play along with us and be sure to pop over to Feeling Sketchy for more inspiration from the DT and for all the challenge details.
