Project Life Week 6

I'm recuperating at home after having my tonsils out on Friday and I have to admit the pain is a lot worse than I imagined it would be!   So in between painkillers, I quickly put together a single page layout for Week 6 using the Slate Edition and added nothing extra.

Here is Week 6.....

Now, where are those icy poles.......

Here's my take on the sketch using a floral stamp and papers from Heartfelt Creations.

My stamped image was watercoloured with Distress Inks and my sentiment from Hero Arts.  The paper flower and brad were from my stash and I added machine stitching to go with the country/vintage feel.

Scrappy Canary| Two Layout Shares

I have my final two layout shares from my "Lots of Love" January Kit today.  I cannot believe how far I was able to stretch this kit- ten layouts and there is nothing but teeny tiny scraps left.

For my first layout "Best Ever" I utilised the brown paper bag that held my embellishement kit as the foundation for my page.

I cut up some of my leftovers to create my own embellishments.

I misted my title with a combination of gold and blue spray inks.

Next up is "XOXO" and this time silver was my accent colour.  I had plenty of silver glitter stickers left and I used them to create a visual triangle.

I layered some pink paper behind the "Hello" sticker, and some yellow behind the "Love Life" sticker.

My title was misted with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in "Tinsel".

I had some of the Elle's Studio stickers left so I placed them around my page in clusters.....I am not afraid to use pink on my boy pages!

Well that's my January Kit completely gone......now bring on the February Kit!

Scrappy Canary | "Retro Raybans" | January Kit Layout Share

I'm back with yet another layout created with the "Lots of Love" January Scrapbook Kit and the "Be Mine" January Embellishment Kit.

I chose a pink and grey/silver colour scheme for this page about my favourite Rayban spectacle frames, and again used the 8.5"x11" format.

My little silver "NICE" sticker was backed with pink patterned paper to ensure the word stood out.

One of the papers featured cute little glasses on the tear-strip so I made good use of that and even had a little bit left to make some banner flags for my photo.

And of course the grey woodgrain Thickers were perfect for creating my title.

I'm having so much fun with this kit!

Inlaid Die-Cutting | Video

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I made a video, so when I made this card featuring A LOT of die-cutting, I filmed the process.

Scrappy Canary | "Dream" | January Kit Layout Share

I'm back with another  layout created with the "Lots of Love" January Scrapbook Kit and the "Be Mine" January Embellishment Kit.

I have to be honest and say I don't love this page.  I think I should have used a white cardstock base instead of kraft but at the time I thought the orange tones and mood of my photo would suit a darker background.  Oh well, I might not love it, but I sure don't hate it either- it's more of a "Meh" feeling.

I do however, LOVE the gold polka dot vellum from the kit and I used it sparingly here so I could use it again on another page!

This is an 8.5"x11" layout- a size I use often- and I used oranges, pinks and golds from the kit along with splashes of black.  I used a black Sharpie through a stencil to create some arrows - you thought it was a stamp didn't you?  I also added black and pink ink splats using Heidi Swapp Colour Shine and probably went just a little overboard LOL!

Black machine stitching and some black and white twine from my stash were added and the sequins are from my kit- loving sequins right now!

Project Life Week 5

It's been so so so very hot here in Perth, so much so, that we have only ventured outside when we absolutely have to!

The boys started their swimming lessons for the term and Samuel was a superstar at his very first lesson ever.  Oliver has been swimming during school time and I am sure that the children are finding that part of their school day the best.

This week I have another single-page layout and I have used the Slate Edition.  I have the physical kit for Slate (Christmas present from a couple of years ago) but I have the First and Last Page Cards in digital form.  I was able to take one of these and add a photo and some journalling while I had Photoshop open.  The Title card and filler cards for this page were from the physical kit.

Here is Week 5.....

Apologies for the glare- I just couldn't find a good spot to take this photo!  I hope to see you next week for Week 6 and since it will face this page, I will be using Slate again.

Scrappy Canary | February Sketch

I am getting down to the scraps of my January kit and I was keen to get them used up. The February Sketch was the perfect opportunity to put those little bits to good use and to challenge me with a sketch that is nothing like my usual style.

First I decided that an 8.5 x 11 layout was in order and since I had a lot of pink papers to use, I decided to use a photo of me. I also rotated the sketch anti-clockwise by 90 degrees to accommodate my portrait-oriented photo.

Rather than create a grid with space between the elements, I went with a looser style, overlapping my papers here and there.

I hope my interpretation of the Scrappy Canary February Sketch inspires you to play along with us!

Scrappy Canary | "Happiness is Birthday Cake"

I have another layout share from my January "Lots of Love Kit" and although I'm starting to get down to scraps, this kit so well put together that I can still create a cohesive and co-ordinated page.

I will be back tomorrow with another Scrappy Canary layout from my January Kit, but this time using the February Sketch :-)

Project Life Week 4

Week 4 was back-to-school week for us and the first day of Kindy for my little guy.  He was so eager and settled in very well.  He already knew some of the children in his class but has made some new friends too.  Week 4 faces Week 3 in my album, so I created another single page layout using the Seafoam Edition of Project Life.  I didn't add anything extra, just printed my photos and cards and slipped them into the pockets- love simple :-)

Here is Week 4.....

Thanks for popping by!

Scrappy Canary | "Too Cute" | January Kit Layout Share

I'm back with another layout using the "Lots of Love" January Scrapbook Kit and the "Be Mine" Embellishment Kit

The striped patterned paper from Dear Lizzy was begging me to cut it apart along one of the lines to form the shape of my page. I added a paper doily from my stash to beef up the photo cluster.

I decided to pair it with the silver elements in the kit and I used one of the speech bubble stickers backed with mint green paper from the kit as my title and popped it up on foam tape for some dimension.

I used some stickers from the embellishement kit to add to my silver glitter stickers and I also cut up some of the phrases from another of the patterned papers.

The little heart brads from the embellishment kit are so adorable!

And of course, some Heidi Swapp Colour Shine (Navy) splats, machine stitching and sequins were the final details.

I still have a tonne of product left so I will have more to share soon!

Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #114

It's that time again!  We have a new sketch to play with at Feeling Sketchy and we also welcome Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons as our challenge sponsor.

Here's the sketch.....

I stuggled a little with the sketch but once I decided to move the vertical strip to the right, it all came together ok.  I used products from Stampin' Up and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

And I stamped one of the butterflies on the inside of the card too.

Head over to Feeling Sketchy for all the challenge details and for inspiration from the Design Team.
