Kraft Plus | July Challenge

The Kraft Plus Challenge Blog has a new inspiration photo to get the creative mojo going and I just loved it when I saw it and had to play along.

A Mustard Explosion!

The Criteria:
Use Kraft as your background
Draw inspiration from the photo
and
Use Yellow Paint on your creation. 

I decided to give my Silhouette Cameo some lovin' and cut a jar of pencils (cut file from the Silhouette Store) and letters for my title from different Studio Calico Snippets Collection patterned papers which I layered on top of each other for extra texture and interest.

For my background I mixed yellow paint with Modelling paste and put it through a Donna Downey stencil.

I added some stickers and chipboard from the SC Snippets collection and a scattering of enamel dots from MME.

I also layered some loose yellow thread under my photo.

I traced around the letters with a black marker and then stitched over that to secure them but to also add more texture.

I then very roughly coloured in my pencils with markers to add to the hand-drawn feel of my page.

This was a small step away from my usual style but it was a lot of fun and I really love how it turned out!

Feeling Sketchy | Sketch #118

It's time for a new sketch at Feeling Sketchy and here is Sketch #118.....

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps and I used one of their images for my card.  I combined it with papers and an embellishment from Simple Stories, a stamped and white heat embossed sentiment from Avery Elle and wooden dots from My Mind's Eye.

My little boy was coloured with Copic Markers and I added some Wink of Stella to little areas for some subtle shimmer.

My Mind's Eye "Hello World" Layout Shares

I have some layouts to share using the new collections that have arrived at Tomorrow's Memories and today I have some shares using My Mind's Eye "Hello World".  Playful, vibrant, and comprised of primary colors with pop, this collection will give you wanderlust for sure!  Yes, it's a travel-themed collection, but I can see so many other uses for it too.  

My first layout is 12"x12" and I cut along the decorative feature on one of the papers to create my lower border.This is a great way to stretch your papers as I still have most of that sheet left to play with on another layout.  I cut apart another sheet to create my heart and geotag embellishments.  All I added was some stitching, twine and ink splats.

My next page is 8.5"x 11" and I used my die-cutting machine to create my large title.  You could easily recreate this by hand, or by adding letter stickers on top of the paper.  I just really wanted a big bold title.....I kept the cut letters in case I want to use them somewhere else.  This is a great way to use both the positive and negatives from your die-cutting.  

I added some sequins and wood veneers from my stash as well as twine, machine sttiching and ink splats.

Next up is another 8.5" x 11" page and this time I used the grid paper as my background.  I cut-apart another patterned paper to create the red embellishments.  I used my die-cutting machine to create my title, but again, letter stickers could be used instead.  I added a tag, a label and some wooden dots as well as my signature-stitching.

MME Chalk Studio Layout for Tomorrow's Memories

I'm back again with another layout using the "Chalk Studio" Collection from My Mind's Eye.  The collection has bold, chalkboard inspired A-sides and soft pastel B-Sides with classic motifs like spots, stripes etc.  In contrast to the neon layout I shared yesterday, today's layout utilises those pastel B-side papers.

The sequins are from Studio Calico's Atlantic Collection- love love love the woodgrain sequins in the pack.

I used a white gel pen (Uni-ball Signo) to write on the black background.

The wooden veneer is also from Studio Calico's Atlantic Collection.

I couldn't resist machine stitching over the "chalk" banner string ;-)

The more I play with this collection the more possibilities I can see.  What trends from the scrqapbooking world have caught your attention lately?

MME Chalk Studio Layout Share for Tomorrow's Memories

Hi everyone!   I popped into my fave little bricks and mortar scrap shop, Tomorrow's Memories to pick up some papers from the My Mind's Eye "Chalk Studio" Collection.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but I knew I had to grab some before they were all gone LOL!

The chalkboard trend is everywhere right now- not just in the scrapbooking world- and most of the exhibitors at CHA Summer 2013 had a chalkboard-inspired collection on offer.  But I think this one from MME and designed by Rhonna Farrer created the most buzz.

When I was holding the papers in the shop- ok, caressing the papers- I was struck by the idea of combining the chalkboard with neon.  So when I got home I came up with this page using neon ink from Hero Arts, some more stamping in black and a  plain white cardstock base.

The neon ink hasn't photographed very well, but IRL it is much brighter and pops really well against the other black and white elements.
