Project Life Week 51

This week I've used the Clementine Edition of Project Life and since I have been focussed on taking "Christmassy" photos for my December Daily album, I was a bit short on decent photos for this week's spread.  Not to worry, I just slapped some extra filler cards in and called it done ;-)

Here is the LHS.....

Here is the RHS.....

And here is the whole week.....

I hope you'll pop back again next week for Week 52- Woohoo!

Thanks for popping by!

LPS December Colour Challenge

I hope you're enjoying the Festive season, but still have some time to play along with our LPS December Colour Challenge.  Our sponsor for this month is Big Picture Classes and the prize is a place in "Project Real Life" worth a whopping $99! Definitely worth playing for ;-)

Project Real Life with Becky Higgins
Cultivate a good life and record it, with Becky Higgins
1/9/2014 $99
12 Weeks

About the Class
Becky's motto, "Cultivate a good life and record it," is at the heart of everything she does with her blog, her Project Life products, and her everyday life.
In this 12-week interactive workshop, she'll share the 12 foundational principles she follows in her real life as a mother, memory keeper, blogger, homemaker, author, instructor, and successful business owner. Becky's main goal is to inspire you to see the everyday beauty in your world and celebrate ordinary moments, but she'll also show you how to preserve the real-life pictures you take using her signature Project Life system.
After the overwhelming response to this workshop during its first run in 2012, Becky is thrilled to invite a new crop of memory keepers to plan, create, and remember…together. There are special offers below for the first 500 to sign up, and an exclusive set of Project Life Themed Cards ("Life Lists" theme) available for purchase in February ONLY to Project Real Life students.

Learn more and register here.

I was a bit scared when I saw our colour palette for this month. It's gorgeous, but quite "girly" and as a scrapper of boys, it was going to be a challenge.

I pulled out some supplies from Amy Tangerine and came up with this.....

I absolutely adore that background paper and had been waiting for the perfect layout to use it on- so glad I used it here!

Try and carve out some crafty time this month and join us over at LPS where you'll find lots of great layouts from the DT to inspire you.  All the details for the challenge are over there too.

December Daily Days 1-5

I have jumped on board the December Daily train and I don't want to get off!  If you are unfamiliar with December Daily go check out Ali Edwards' Blog- she is the "inventor" of the concept.

I am primarily using the December Daily Kit from Studio Calico but I am also using digital elements from Ali Edwards and other free printables I have found around the interwebs.  Pinterest really is your friend for a project like this and I have a December Daily Pinterest Board which I started adding pins to well before starting this project.

I am using a mixture of typed and handwritten journalling.  If I am opening a journalling card digitally it makes sense to type right on it, but if I am using a journalling card from my SC kit or from my stash, I am just writing on it in pen.  I don't mind mixing it up for this.  I had to approach this project in a fairly relaxed manner- this time of year is crazy enough without adding to it with an over-complicated scrapbooking project.  I am still doing my Project Life spreads during December- I am just trying to document the Christmas stories in DD and the everyday stories in PL.  We have already travelled this month, and there weren't any "Christmassy" photos but I still included some that reflected that this is family-time and time to relax before the busy week before Christmas.

We also have our Elf on the Shelf with us this month, but since he is getting his own mini-album filled with his adventures, I have only included a couple of Elf stories in my December Daily.

To make my cover, I painted the star-embossed chipboard with chalkboard paint, seasoned it with chalk once dry and then decorated it simply with a gold spray-painted doily, and embossed wood veneer "25" from the kit and a little flair button.  It took three thin coats to get the coverage I was happy with but the result was worth all the work.

So here is my cover and Days 1-5.....

I have deliberately photographed these so that most of the journalling is unreadable- I hope you don't mind, but I still wanted to share my album's general look with you all :-)

Project Life Week 50

Oh my goodness it's Week 50!  This week features the rest of our Bali holiday and then a fairly quiet few days after we returned home.  I have used the Seafoam Edition this week and I think the orange and blue was a good match for our water and sunset photos :-)

Here's the LHS.....

Here's the RHS.....

And here's the entire spread.....

I had some great scenery shots so I was careful to not crop them too much and leave space for journalling right on top of the photos. You'll know if you've been following my PL pages that I often crop a journalling card to place on a photo, but in cases like these,  I find it useful to be able to reduce the opacity of the text to allow the photo to show through.

Just a couple more weeks left and I still love this project :-)

Project Life Week 49

I apologise for the late post for this week's PL page, but I have a very good excuse- we got home last night from a lovely family holiday in Bali :-)

Week 49 was action-packed with school finishing, Daddy coming home, a family night out, a Christmas party and then Bali fun.  It was Midnight's turn this week and it suited my photo-heavy pages quite well.

Here is the LHS.....

and the RHS.....

and here's the whole week.....

A really fast week to put together, but with the Midnight Edition, the result is always pretty good ;-)

LPS December Sketch Challenge

It's all happening at Life.Paper.Scrapbook this week with the December Mini Issue out on Tuesday and the last sketch challenge for the year starting today!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Pinkfresh Studio!

Pinkfresh Studio is a fresh online shop committed to provide very unique and fun products. They offer their own exclusive range of washi tapes including very unique ombré prints, trendy shaped enamel stickers, brad stickers and fresh press cards in fun colors. Their ombré print washi tapes with beautiful airmail print and Aztec print are sure to make your paper crafting projects pop. They recently released their 1st ever stamp set called “Delightful Tales”. But they don’t stop there, they are about to release their another fun product and it is going to be color blocked wood veneers in 3 different shapes (triangles, hearts and arrows).

The winner of this challenge will win goodies to the value of $30 from Pinkfresh Studio- definitely worth playing for!

Here's the sketch we're playing with.....

And here's my take on the sketch using the Snippets Collection from Studio Calico.

I had some fun with my Silhouette Cameo here,  cutting the title out of the background cardstock, misting it with a mixture of inks, then cutting an internally offset section from patterned paper and popping the whole piece up of foam dots to add dimension- cool huh?

I hope you'll find some time during this crazy-busy month to play along.  Don't forget to visit the LPS Blog to check out all the DT's layouts and for all the challenge details.
