CAS-ual Fridays | CFC144

I decided to play along with CAS-ual Friday's TicTacToe Challenge this month, and I made a card featuring stencilling, die-cutting and embossing.

I started with some watercolour paper and a Stampin' Up star stencil.  I applied Versamark Ink through the stencil and then white heat embossed the stars.  I then watercoloured the background with Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Fossilized Amber.

I die-cut some balloons from plain white cardstock with dies from MFT and then coloured those with the same Distress Inks using a foam ink blending tool.

I took a sentiment from Avery Elle and white heat embossed it on some vellum before trimming it to a banner shape.

Some silver thread for the balloon tails were the final finishing touch.

Thanks for dropping by!

JAI #164 and CFC #100

Here's a card I created for two challenges this week.  The challenge at Just Add Ink is a sketch challenge and the challenge at Cas-ual Fridays is Tic-Tac-Toe.

I grabbed some supplies from Stampin' Up and created this card, following the JAI sketch and the Cas-ual Fridays Tic-Tac-Toe combination of Polka Dots, Square Card and Birthday.

I don't often combine challenges but this was fun and I will most likely try it again soon :-)

CFC90: Black & White plus 1

The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays is to "Create a CAS project using black and white plus one colour of your choice."  I have been wanting an opportunity to try the chalkboard technique again and I thought this was the perfect challenge for that.

I settled on bright yellow as my colour and using this stamp set by Claudine Hellmuth I created my "chalkboard".  Some punched polka dot paper and bakers twine became a sweet little banner to finish the scene.

The chalkboard trend is so popular at the moment, so I'm happy I've pretty much got the hang of it now :-)

CFC87 Make Your Mark

It's challenge time at Cas-ual Fridays and this week the challenge is to use markers in your Clean And Simple Creation. My friend's father passed away over the weekend so I wanted to make her a Sympathy card.  I decided to stamp some butterflies on pink cardstock in Versamark, then heat emboss them in white.  I coloured the butterflies with markers in three shades of pink. then outlined them with the darkest shade.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment in white.  Some pearls added an elegant finishing touch.

CFC86: Long and Short

This week at CAS-ual Fridays, the challenge is to create a CAS card that has one long side and one short side. So no standard A2 size cards are allowed. I thought I'd get into the Valentine's Day mood and create a card measuring 7.5" x 4".

I started with a crumb cake card base measuring 7.5" x 8", and scored and folded it to form a 7.5" x 4" card. I added a red panel after embossing it with a Sizzix woodgrain folder.  Next, I took a white panel, stamped and white heat embossed my sentiment with alphabet stamps before then adding a few spritzes of Mr Hueys in Schoolhouse. Once dry, I cleaned up the embossed letters to really make them pop and then added a strip of washi tape to the bottom of the panel which I then adhered to the card with foam adhesive. I took a Memory Box die to cut some hearts from red cardstock and adhered those with Glossy Accents.

JAI #144- Just Add Music & CFC79- Winter Blues

I was inspired by a card on page 9 of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue that used light blue, dark red and white.  I decided on the colour combo of Bashful Blue, Midnight Muse and Cherry Cobbler to create this Christmas card using the Stampin' Up! Welcome Christmas stamp set and a musical background cling stamp from Hero Arts.

The music image was stamped in versamark and clear embossed on the Bashful Blue card base, while the cherry cobbler cardstock piece was embossed with a music Cuttlebug embossing folder.

After I made this card for the "Just Add Music" challenge at Just Add Ink, I noticed that the theme this week at CAS-ual Fridays is "Winter Blues", and was pleased that this card meets the brief for that challenge as well ;-)

The little ones and I have spent the weekend getting used to Daddy's presence in the house again, and also getting used to the moustache he is growing for Movember.  If you would like to donate to this worthy cause for men, or simply find out more about Movember, you can visit his "Mo-space" HERE.

CFC 77

The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a Clean & Simple Masculine Card.  I decided to create a birthday card using black/white/orange and to make a bold background using Avery Elle stamps.

We are having some dreadfully wet weather here at the moment and it is very difficult to get good photographs even right by the window.  Oh well, we do need the rain and it won't be long before we're complaining that it's too hot!

CFC 76

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to use Kraft.  I love using Kraft in both my scrapbooking and cardmaking, but I don't usually stamp straight onto it- crazy huh?  I wanted to use the "Bright Days" stamp set from Avery Elle and was inspired by a card by Heather Campbell where she used lots of bright colours for the rays of her sun.  I've used the same layout as Heather but narrowed my colours down to the five new 2012-2013 In Colours from Stampin' Up.

The cloud is stamped with a border stamp from Avery Elle's "Fanfare" set and die-cut with a cloud die from MFT.  A little scrap piece of twine I found on my desk finished off the card.  I love the bright colours against the neutral of the Kraft and I think I'll try it again soon :-)
