Kraft Plus | March Challenge

I am playing along again at Kraft Plus and once again the challenge is a ripper!

The challenge is to use this sketch and add some houndstooth, all on a Kraft base of course.

I pulled out an older collection from Basic Grey called "Knee-highs & Bow-ties" to scrap this layout that celebrates the wonderful imagination that my youngest son possesses.

I used my Silhouette Cameo, a cut-file from the Silhouette Online Store and some stencil material to create a houndstooth patterned stencil.  I applied  Gathered Twigs Distress Ink through the stencil with an ink blending tool to give my Kraft background some subtle tone-on-tone texture.

I just love how the Kraft Plus challenges always get me to try new things- now I know how easy it is to make my own stencils with my Silhouette :-)

Scrap the Boys | June Challenge

I've recently discovered a great challenge blog all about scrapping the boys in our lives- Scrap the Boys- right up my alley.  Their June Challenge is all about using large photos on a layout.  I have a few 5x7 portraits of my boys laying around- school photos etc- and I decided to scrap this portrait taken at Sam's daycare last year.  I can't believe they got him to smile- he usually either pulls a silly face or has a stunned expression whenever I try and snap a headshot.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the title which is available in the Silhouette Online Store.  I used the Knee Highs & Bow Ties Collection from Basic Grey to go behind my title and to embellish my photo.  I stuck with my usual clean and simple style to keep the focus on my gorgeous boy.

I love how this turned out and I must remember to use my Silhouette for title work more often :-)

Layout Share | Basic Grey

Here's a quick layout share using Basic Grey's Oliver Collection.  It's been around for a few years and I can remember not being able to resist buying the whole collection- my eldest son in also called Oliver!

Thanks for stopping by :-)
