Project Life Week Seventeen

We're on school holidays here in the west, so Week 17 had a slower, more chilled pace to it.  I used the Dear Lizzy Luck Charm collection from acdigitals and I have to say, I am very very tempted to buy the physical product for this collection too.  It's gorgeous and I love it's preppy feel.

I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that we are already a third of the way through the year and as I looked at my album this week, I was trying to figure out if I will fit the whole year inside it....I just might ;-)

Just Add Ink #163

The challenge this week at Just Add Ink is to "Just Add a Fun Background".  I had only just purchased some     Hero Arts Neon Inks and this cut file for my Cameo from the Silhouette Online Store.  I knew exactly what I was going to create.

I took some solid circle stamps from Avery Elle Bright Days Set and randomly stamped them in the neon inks on white cardstock which I then matted on black.  My sentiment was cut from black cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo.

I then made another card but this time my background was created using the Trifecta Set from Mama Elephant.

And then I just couldn't resist having another go but with my sentiment cut from white cardstock.  The background was made from the same Avery Elle set as the first card.

I love using these neon inks and I think there are so many fun sentiments that can be used for a bright cheerful card.

Just Add Ink #162

The challenge this week at Just Add Ink is to use a technique you've never tried before.  I've had a go at most techniques but one that I have seen a lot lately but haven't yet tried is "Faux Letterpress".  

I took some white cardstock, an embossing folder and some distress ink.  I inked up the inside of the folder, popped in the card and ran it through my cuttlebug.  Easy peasy.  

I think for next time though, I will use a completely smooth cardstock- this was Bazzill (the smoother side) and the ink didn't take as well I had hoped it would.  I also think next time, I'll try a different ink to see if I can get a smoother result.  

I then took a floral stamp from Hero Arts, stamped and heat embossed a few times, watercoloured with distress inks, cut it out along with some extra layers for dimension and added some pearls.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and is stamped in Memento Black Tuxedo ink.

So, will I try "Faux Letterpress" again?  For sure!

Project Life Week Sixteen

It's been a very long 11 week school term, so Week 16 saw us finally wind up Term 1.  We're all exhausted and are looking forward to slower mornings, some quiet days but also some fun outings.  

For this week's PL spread I have used the new Project Life Honey Edition which is now available at acdigitals.com.  I love the bright cheery colour palette and from what I've heard, this is going to be a very popular edition when it becomes available in retail stores.

Scrapping More Holiday Photos

Although I am completely up to date with my Project Life pages, I am about twelve months behind in my "normal" scrapbooking.  So this week I tried to get a couple done.  I am still slowly making my way through our photos from Phuket - April 2012- but since I have PL spreads from that trip, I don't feel the urge to scrap every single photo- just the ones I think have a story to tell.

For this first one, I pulled out my Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic by American Crafts collection and went to work.  It's quite a girly collection but I think I was able to pull out some elements that worked for this layout for Master 6.  This layout tells the story of how despite there being a really awesome Kids' Club at our resort, Oliver hated going and just wanted to swim in the pool and hang out with Chris and I all day.  Initially we wanted him to persevere in the hope that he would grow to love it.  We also wanted some quality time together without the boys.  But eventually we decided that we didn't want him to be miserable- after all, it was his holiday just as much as it was ours.

For my next layout, I grabbed the Snippets Collection from Studio Calico and went to work on this layout of Samuel and I in the pool.  He had a ball every day at the Baby Club and the staff were absolutely wonderful with him.  Every afternoon we would collect him and bring him back up to the pool for some family time before getting changed for dinner.  I was so grateful that the Baby Club was there and was very happy to take him each morning, but I was always excited to go get him and find out about his day.

I don't think I'll ever get completely "caught up" but that's ok, because it is lovely re-live our holiday memories twelve months later.

I will admit I struggled to find some photos and supplies in my scrapbooking stash to suit this colour palette, but I was easily inspired to make some cards......

For my first card I took some kraft cardstock for my card base, added a slightly smaller turquoise piece and a white piece slightly smaller again.  I then stamped a triangle border from the Mama Elephant Trifecta clear stamp set in a variety of Distress Inks - Stormy Sky, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries. I then stamped my sentiment from Avery Elle Framed Fonts clear stamp set in Versamark ink and white embossed it on kraft, matted it on a turquoise piece and lastly added some twine.  

For my next card I used cardstock, inks and patterned paper from Stampin' Up together with their "Something Sweet" stamp set.  The ink colours were Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede.
